What is Pandora's Box?
Pandora's Box is an Original Character-centric, Steampunk-themed Role Play set during the Victorian Era (1837 - 1901). As such, it is an 'Alternate History' rp, meaning that while it is set on our very own Earth, there are a variety of liberties taken in the interest of creativity and rp flow. For example, some of the settings are fictional (ex., Felorice), though they are placed in real-world locations (ex. Great Britain). Additionally, technology for the time period is not restricted to what is historically accurate. If you have an idea for something, go ahead an try to work it in, provided you keep to the steampunk theme. Locations for rp will be added to as the plot goes on.

What is the story plot here?
All throughout Earth's history, there have been prevailing stories and legends of all sorts of mythical monsters and creatures, from every corner of the world. In modern society they've been considered little more than mythology and folklore... That is, until recently, when a few races came to light and revealed themselves. The backlash from humans has been enormous, resulting in all manner of racism and distrust, particularly from what are typically thought to be dangerous, savage creatures.
The rp takes place about five years after the initial coming out, and opinions on the matter, in whatever form, are still strongly fueled. There is a great deal of ethnocentrism, with humans believing themselves to be 'better' and more civilized than their mythological counterparts. In some cases, this has even led to slavery, particularly in the case of werecreatures/shapeshifters. With their ability to turn into animals, they are often viewed as little more than unintelligent brutes, good for only an existence of either servitude or euthanasia.
Some of the other races that have surfaced include vampires, charming immortals of the night, as well as witches and warlocks, powerful magic users.
It is unknown, and often speculated, whether or not other creatures previously believed to be imaginary, do in fact live and walk the planet just beyond our ability to detect them...
