Chuck hadn't had a problem finding the park from her ship, but once she'd gotten on the ground, she had to stop about ten natives to find the bloody thing. On the plus side, it did help her gather attention... Between her ridiculous outfit (layered skirt, a vest and shirt, and a feathered headdress), her skull make-up, and her darker skin, she looked oddly exotic. Always a plus.
Now that she was at the park, she'd set out a slightly battered top hat. A few people had dropped in coins as they passed, awed by her magic tricks and palm readings. She hadn't made a lot, though, and she knew it. Hardly enough to buy her some rice and pasta, honestly... This was going to be a problem. Sighing, she continued her illusions, still smiling, still hoping for more money.

It was one of Akida's first days after setting up camp in Felorice... Previously, he'd been holding a show in London before making his way East-ward. The turnout had been pleasant, people seemed to like paying good money to be faced with things they'd otherwise be afraid of under different circumstances...
The crew back at home were still erecting tents, so performances were far from being anywhere near ready. He could at least spread the word in the meantime... Hence why he was here at the park. The Ringmaster had every intent of drawing attention to announce that the circus had just rolled into town. He'd even gone as far as to wear one of his showier tail coats, artfully decorated with multicolored patches, little brass chains, and baubles. Though he'd taken careful measure not to make his appearance too out of the ordinary... Not with the public's especially violent reaction to... His kind these days.
Not that he could blame them... But he digressed....
There already seemed to be a crowd assembled at the park today. That would make things harder, but not by too much... Akida was good at drawing attention. However, having his own attention drawn was not something he'd expected to happen right at that moment. But it happened, as he laid eyes on the girl currently working her magic. The Ringmaster slowed, halted, and watched, lifting an eyebrow with interest.

Chuck was a little happy--her crowd had increased, and more people were leaving money. Sure, it wasn't a lot, but... It was more. Enough to feed her for a week, maybe, if she was really careful. That was a big deal to her, definitely.
After the crowd dispersed, she took the break to heave a sigh. She was starting to get worn out--it'd been at least a few hours. Even doing mostly smaller tricks was tiring after that long. Carefully spreading her skirts just so, she sat on the grass with legs crossed at the ankle. Noticing a man in an outfit at least as flashy as her own (if not more), she tilted her head a little. "Evenin', monsieur," she said to him, her own eyebrows perking. She played her accent up just a little, because oddities like that usually led to money.

Akida had lingered, even as the crowd thinned out. Felorice was a varied place, for sure, but even so, he'd had yet to see someone dressed quite like this young woman out and about...
"Evening~" He greeted her back, graciously tipping his hat as he took a step or two closer. "I have to say," he said, looking her over. "I haven't seen that sort of makeup since a trip down South to the new America some time ago..."

As the man approached, she let her eyebrows lift a little. "Well, sugar, if you've ever been down to New Orleans, that's my hometown. That'd explain why you might recognize the whole style." She smiled a little, looking him over. "I wasn't expectin' to find anyone familiar with this kinda thing, to be perfectly honest."

"Well, I am a bit of an extraordinary exception..." Akida said, flashing a grin. Keeping a respectable distance, the man fished around in his pocket for a card, bringing it out and handing it to her. "My name is Akida," he said as an introduction. "New Orleans is quite the interesting place, if you ask me~ It is certainly a city I enjoy visiting... I run a traveling circus, and we seem to be well-received there."
